Wow, wow, wow! What an incredible day we had for our 2025 Back to School BASH! Almost 1,000 people attended the event. Performances included three marching bands—the Washington Commanders Brass Quintet, Rough Riders Drumline, and Warriors Drumline. Gospel Artist Byron Cage ushered the crowd into praising and hands to God. Other performances included Jyla’s Studio of Dance, Stephen Leslie, Go Go Zumba, and the TOB Band.
There was something for everyone. For the kids, we had pony rides, the moon bounce, face painting, giant balloon blowing, to arts and crafts. We provided screenings for HIV, cholesterol, diabetes, and organ health. Tests were administered on-site, while some individuals were supplied with test kits and comprehensive instructions to conduct the procedure at home.
Some vendors provided information and merchandise. Merchandise included shoes, dance outfits, Washington Commanders shirts, and other items for the football season. It was a great time of enjoying food, having fun, engaging with vendors, and supporting a worthy event.
This year, we distributed 500 backpacks, and we distributed 1,250 school uniform pieces between 5 schools (District Heights Elementary, North Forestville Elementary, Longfield, and two new schools, Allenwood Elementary and Panorama Elementary).
